Is counselling right for me?
Everyone goes through challenging situations in life and seeking out counselling is an individual choice. There are many reasons why people choose to have counselling. Sometimes they want to deal with longstanding psychological issues, or problems with anxiety or depression. Other times it may be in response to unexpected life changes, such as a relationship breakups or work transitions. Some people seek help and advice as they pursue personal exploration and development. Working with a counsellor can help provide insight, support and new strategies for all types of life challenges. Counselling can help address many types of issues including depression, anxiety, body-image issues, conflict, grief, stress management and general life transitions.
How will counselling help me?
Several benefits can be gained from participating in counselling and psychotherapy. Counsellors can provide support, ways forward and improved coping skills for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, body image issues and creative blocks. Many people also find that counsellors are helpful in navigating personal development, interpersonal relationships, family concerns and the struggles of daily life. Counsellors can provide a fresh perspective on difficult problems or point you in the direction of a solution.
Is counselling confidential?
Communication is both privileged and confidential. This means that without your written permission I cannot discuss your own, your family or child’s case orally or in writing, except with my clinical supervisor.
I have an ethical and legal obligation to break confidentiality if there is a reason to believe there is an occurrence of child, elder or dependent adult abuse or neglect. Also, if there is reason to believe that your child or a member of your family has serious intent to harm themselves, someone else, or property by a violent act they may commit. And also, if requested by law to disclose counselling records.
Does Medicare or private health insurance cover any of the cost?
Various rebates are available through private health insurance, but not through Medicare. You do not need a GP referral or mental health care plan to see me. You can claim counselling services through the following private health providers: ARHG, Police Health, St Luke’s Health, Phoenix Health Fund, Emergency Services Health, Medibank, ahm and BUPA. Please check your extras policy for details.

Do you accept NDIS funded clients?
NDIS funded services invoiced to self-managed clients or plan managers in line with current rates are available. Please Frauke for further details.
How do I make a complaint?
If you are unhappy with any aspect of counselling and psychotherapeutic services provided to you, please contact me in the first instance and I will work with you and endeavour to resolve any issues. As a registered practitioner I abide by PACFA (Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia) ethical codes.
