Individual Counselling
Individual counselling is focused on finding healing, clarity and connection within. You may be experiencing the impact of trauma. You may feel stuck in a particular area of life and don’t know how to get unstuck. You may want to work on healing old wounds, improve your relationships and your ability to move forward in life.
To struggle is to be human. But sometimes those struggles become overwhelming. When your struggles impact your sense of yourself, your ability to engage in your life and the people around you, I can lean in and provide you with the support you need to manage and overcome personal issues and challenges.
Working with Young People & Family Consultations
I have always had a passion for working with young people and utilising creative-expressive approaches in empowering young people to reach their full potential, including drama and action methods and Interactive Drawing Therapy (IDT).
During the past 15 years I have provided counselling and therapeutic interventions for many young people and families to help them manage emerging mental health and interpersonal issues. In this role I have utilised a wide range of therapeutic approaches, including a brief intervention Family Consultation approach. In my Beyond Talk Therapy practice I offer one-on-one sessions, as well as family meetings for young people and family members experiencing conflict at home.
I also offer the brief intervention Family Consultation approach to assist couples and any family members who seek to resolve family relationship issues.
Training & Group Programs
I am a skilled group facilitator and accredited Interactive Drawing Therapy (IDT) instructor, with many years of experience in therapeutic groups as well as in group training for personal and professional development. As part of my Beyond Talk Counselling practice I offer a range of group programs that enable participants to learn IDT skills for personal and professional use.
These include the two hour IDT Taster Workshop, which introduces participants to IDT as a counselling and journaling approach. The session is suitable for people interested in personal development, healing, mindfulness and creative self-expression as well as for people in the helping professions, who look for creative-expressive ways of working with their clients.
The Expressive Journaling with Imagery workshops introduce participants to IDT as a powerful self-care and reflection tool to help guide themselves in managing life’s challenges and opportunities.
The IDT Foundation Course is the first step toward developing IDT counselling skills and is open to both professional and voluntary ‘helpers’. This is a hands-on experiential training that will present IDT’s basic principles, method and clinical frameworks. The four day Foundation Course comprises two by 2-day units.
Periodically, online IDT Practice Workshops are available for Foundation Course graduates to extend their learning.

Interactive Drawing Therapy (IDT)
IDT is a unique way of working with words, images and feelings to enable clients to gain a better understanding about themselves and the issues they are presenting in the therapy session. The page becomes a mirror for people, helping them see themselves more objectively from new perspectives, and facilitating insight, inner resourcefulness and profound change.
IDT is my favourite therapy modality. With this gentle and fun therapy approach I can meet my clients where they are and put them in charge of what they want to talk, write and draw about while I guide the process and ensure safety. Watch this short video or go here to find out more about IDT.
